Angola's farm sector grows to 23% of GDP

The agricultural sector's contribution to Angola's GDP has nearly doubled in 10 years, now standing at 23%.

Angola's economy is undergoing a structural transformation that is reducing its reliance on external vulnerabilities, according to Minister of State for Economic Coordination José de Lima Massano.

The agricultural sector's weight in the national GDP has almost doubled over the past decade, reaching approximately 23%. The food segment now constitutes 58% of the manufacturing industry, with industrial production increasing by 66% in September compared to the same period last year, based on INE data.

Massano stated that this structural shift supports a path toward sustained disinflation, as food and non-alcoholic beverages account for 56% of Angola's consumer price index. He advocated for continued public incentives to attract investment in agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, and national production.

Why it mattersAngolan farmers and the agricultural sector are directly impacted by the growth in GDP contribution and the call for increased investment.
