The National Social Security Fund (CNSS) intensified its special operation to inspect bars and drinking establishments on Friday, September 4, 2026. Director General Dr. Herman Yacouba Nacambo visited Koudougou, Kokologho, Tanghin-Dassouri, and Ouagadougou, observing that many businesses employ workers who are not declared to the CNSS. The institution aims to raise awareness and assist employers in regularizing their status. At the Cave de la Paix in Koudougou, only one of thirty-five announced employees was declared.
Further inspections revealed similar issues. The Yam-Rasmata bar, with twelve to eighteen workers, and the 'La Paillote Yambi' establishment, employing thirty-four people, had no declared staff. At 'Royaume des Stars Plus,' the manager reported sixty workers, none of whom were registered with the CNSS. While management expressed intent to comply, CNSS officials noted that many establishments either fail to declare workers or do not pay social contributions for those who are declared.
Dr. Nacambo stated that the operation is not solely punitive but aims to educate business owners about their social security obligations and verify their compliance. He highlighted a significant lack of understanding and awareness of labor legislation among some operators in the sector. The CNSS plans to increase its outreach efforts to address these widespread issues and ensure workers receive their due social protection.
