The Ministry of Humanitarian Action is distributing essential kits to those affected by recent heavy rains.

Heavy rains in Bangui and its outskirts have left over 2,000 people homeless. The Ministry of Humanitarian Action, with support from the UNHCR, is distributing essential kits to affected residents in the 4th arrondissement. These kits include items like tarpaulins, buckets, mats, and cooking pots.

Minister of Humanitarian Action, Lina Josiane Bemakassoui, stated on Monday in Bangui that efforts are underway to assist the victims, despite facing difficulties. Residents from sectors 4 I and 4 II gathered at the 4th arrondissement police station to receive aid. Wini Edoxie Yakona, a resident, described losing all her belongings when the Ngouya Bagara canal overflowed into her home.

The head of Dedengué 4 neighborhood, Dieudonné Ngofio, urged the government to build more canals to improve water flow and reduce future flood risks. He also noted that some flooding is caused by residents dumping waste into drainage channels. The Ministry has called on partners to provide further assistance to the affected population.
