FECOMCI proposes 10 actions for artisanal mining by 2030

The Federation of Mining Cooperatives of Ivory Coast aims to formalize actors and improve gold traceability.

The Federation of Mining Cooperatives of Ivory Coast (FECOMCI), led by Koné Seydou, has put forward 10 proposals for its 2026-2030 action plan. This plan seeks to sustainably transform artisanal mining operations across Ivory Coast. Key objectives include combating illegal gold panning, formalizing industry participants, enhancing gold traceability, and protecting the environment.

In parallel, authorities continue to fight illegal gold extraction. 19 illegal mining sites were dismantled recently in the Yamoussoukro autonomous district and the Bélier region. These actions are part of efforts against illicit gold exploitation in these areas.

FECOMCI's plan targets the period up to 2030 for these transformations. The federation's proposals aim to create a more structured and regulated artisanal mining sector.
