Cameroon plans CFA8.8 billion organic fertilizer plant
TMG International Investment Group and PT Turrima Agro Mass are considering a project to produce fertilizer locally and reduce import reliance.
Cameroonian firm TMG International Investment Group PLC and Indonesia’s PT Turrima Agro Mass are exploring a $15 million (CFA8.8 billion) organic fertilizer plant in Cameroon. The project aims to replace some fertilizer imports with local production. Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the potential investment on October 19, 2026, following a memorandum of understanding signed on October 16 between the two companies regarding agricultural technology transfer and local production capacity development.
The proposed factory will be part of a 25-hectare integrated agricultural complex. This complex is planned to include laboratories, raw material storage and processing facilities, and areas for crop cultivation and livestock farming. The partners intend to utilize organic waste from agricultural and livestock activities as the primary input for fertilizer production.
The Indonesian ministry stated the $15 million figure represents the potential value of the fertilizer plant project. However, the ministry did not provide a breakdown of how this amount would be allocated between industrial equipment and other facilities within the larger agricultural complex.
Why it mattersCameroonian farmers could benefit from locally produced organic fertilizer, potentially lowering costs and improving soil health.
