Splash band returns to stage after 15 years

The Cape Verdean group Splash will tour Mozambique, Cape Verde, and the United States after a successful reunion concert in Rotterdam.

The Cape Verdean band Splash returned to the stage after a 15-year absence with a sold-out concert in Rotterdam. The group, featuring Djoy Delgado, Dina Medina, Danilo Tavares, Grace Évora, Laise Sanchez, Manu Soares, and Johnny Fonseca, performed over two hours of music, including 30 songs and medleys. This reunion marks 30 years since the release of their first album, "Simplicidade," in 1996.

The Rotterdam concert, held at Annabel, was described as emotional and celebratory, with the audience singing along to songs from various stages of the band's career. The seven artists have each developed individual careers, but the performance highlighted their collective history. The band, rooted in the Dutch diaspora music scene, blends Cape Verdean music with international influences.

Splash is planning a world tour for 2027, with dates scheduled for Mozambique, Cape Verde, and the United States. The tour aims to reconnect with fans and celebrate the musical legacy of the band and its members. The group's music has contributed to the global expansion of Cape Verdean music.
