Nearly 30 young Djiboutians aged 17-24 are learning digital decision-making and negotiation skills.
A bootcamp to train Djiboutian youth in digital governance and telecommunications diplomacy began on October 27 and runs until October 29 at the Ayla Grand Hôtel. The Ministry of Communication, Posts and Telecommunications, in partnership with the Arab Regional Office of the International Telecommunication Union, organized the training for nearly 30 participants aged 17 to 24 from Djiboutian higher education institutions.
Aicha Mohamed Robleh, advisor to the minister, opened the event, joined by Hawa Ali from the University of Djibouti and Feycal Kaireh Chirdon, Director of ICT Development at the MCPT. The program aims to equip young people with knowledge of multi-stakeholder digital governance and the diplomatic aspects of telecommunications, including policy development and negotiation techniques.
The bootcamp also features sessions with the national digital ecosystem, where participants will meet Djiboutian entrepreneurs and learn about local initiatives like Limo and Hoom. The D-Money payment solution was also presented. Organizers believe it is essential to involve youth in decision-making processes as digital technologies grow in importance in international relations and public policy.
