Egypt condemns Saudi airport attack, reaffirms solidarity
Cairo expresses strong condemnation of the Dammam airport attack, stating Saudi security is integral to Egyptian national security.
Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned an attack on King Fahd Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday evening. The ministry stated on Facebook that the attack violated international law and targeted air navigation, facilities, and civilians. Egypt rejects such practices that escalate tension and destabilize the region.
The attack resulted in two civilian deaths and eight injuries, according to the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation. The deceased included a Saudi citizen and an Indian resident. The injured comprised individuals from Saudi Arabia, India, Yemen, and Nepal. Egypt reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in defending its territory and citizens.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stated on Wednesday that Egypt’s proposed military effort was aimed at defending Saudi Arabian territory, not attacking Yemen. He added that Egypt would defend any other Arab state if asked, emphasizing that Arab national security is indivisible and the stability of Gulf states is a matter of national security for Egypt.
