Tigray rebels claim tactical victories
TPLF leader Debretsion Gebremichael stated the northern state remains at war with federal forces.
The leader of Ethiopia’s rebel Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), Debretsion Gebremichael, stated on Wednesday that the northern state is still at war.
Gebremichael said the TPLF continues to fight federal forces and claimed recent tactical victories, including neutralizing hundreds of soldiers last week in northern and central Tigray.
The army recaptured the regional capital Mekelle earlier this month, and analysts warn the advance could increase the risk of war with Eritrea, following drone strikes that killed four people in southern Tigray and targeted civilians and a school in the Amhara region.
