A power event at a third-party facility in London caused widespread disruption to UK financial institutions and online platforms.

Google Cloud has resolved a significant disruption affecting its UK cloud services, which impacted numerous banks, businesses, and government services. The outage, originating from a power event at a third-party facility in Google's London data centre region, caused widespread errors and intermittent network failures. Services including Revolut, Lloyds Bank, and HSBC confirmed disruptions, with customers reporting inability to access funds and complete transactions.

The tech giant acknowledged the issue, stating that multiple services were affected by the power event in the 'europe-west2' cloud region. This incident led to over 1,500 reports of problems with Revolut alone. Other affected platforms included Royal Mail, DPD, and the HM Courts and Tribunals Service, which experienced issues with its video platform for remote hearings.

A Google Cloud spokesperson apologized for the inconvenience and confirmed that services have been restored. The company plans to publish an analysis of the incident on its service health dashboard.
