The new co-working hub in Accra aims to support startups and boost commercial ties following record bilateral trade levels between the two nations.
Trade relations between Ghana and Sweden recorded significant growth in 2025, with bilateral imports and exports reaching their highest levels in three years. Data from Trading Economics show that Ghana’s exports to Sweden were valued at US$3.07 million, while Swedish exports to Ghana reached US$86.3 million during the year.
To support growing commercial ties, Nickie Akosa, Sweden’s Honorary Consul to Ghana, has established BaseNord in the East Legon neighbourhood of Accra. The purpose-built facility provides dedicated co-working spaces, private offices, meeting rooms and virtual office solutions for startups and investors.
Ms Akosa stated that the hub addresses the difficulties early-stage businesses face in finding professional working environments. The initiative also aims to assist Ghanaian businesses seeking partners in Scandinavia and Swedish investors establishing operations in Ghana, particularly in renewable energy, food and agriculture.
Why it mattersStartups and investors looking for workspace and commercial partners in Ghana and Sweden are directly affected by the launch of the new facility.
