two-year-old boy drowns in well in Labé

Mamadou Aliou Bah fell into an open well in his mother's garden on Tuesday morning.

A two-year-old boy, Mamadou Aliou Bah, died after falling into a well in the Hôré Hollâdhé neighborhood of Labé on Tuesday morning, October 27, 2026. His mother, Mariama Bobo Diallo, stated the child had been sleeping in the garden while she harvested tomatoes. She discovered he was missing when she went to check on him.

The child's father was called to the scene and confirmed the boy was not where his mother had left him. A search of the garden led to the discovery of Mamadou Aliou Bah's body in the well. The neighborhood chief, Abdoulaye Bademba Barry, alerted emergency services, and the body was taken to Labé Regional Hospital for an autopsy.

This incident has reignited concerns about the safety of open wells and excavations in Labé. According to the neighborhood chief, similar accidents have occurred in Hôré Hollâdhé before. The community is awaiting the hospital's decision regarding the release of the body for burial.
