Durban court views CCTV of alleged gunmen before AKA, Tibz killings
Footage from 17 locations shows two men approaching Wish restaurant before the February 2023 shooting.
The Durban High Court has viewed CCTV footage showing two men approaching Wish restaurant shortly before rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were shot dead in February 2023. The footage, presented in the trial of seven men accused of the killings, shows the pair crossing the road as Forbes and his entourage leave the restaurant. One man appears to open fire while the other appears to cover the group with a firearm, according to SABC News.
The two then run towards Gordon Road, with surveillance recordings forming part of the State’s effort to reconstruct movements surrounding the shooting on Durban’s Florida Road. Investigators gathered footage from at least 17 locations, including King Shaka International Airport and the hotel where Forbes stayed. State witness Constable Rajen Sanders is taking the court through the recordings, which are being used to trace people and vehicles allegedly connected to the case.
All seven accused have pleaded not guilty, with the defence challenging aspects of the identification evidence. The CCTV material is evidence being considered by the court.
