Khubetsoana hardware donates food and medical aid
More than 100 households received food hampers and free medical services from Khubetsoana Building World in its second annual corporate social responsibility initiative.
Khubetsoana Building World (KBW) provided food hampers and free medical services to over 100 households along the Maseru-Berea border. The initiative, now in its second year, involved a Chinese medical team from Maseru District Hospital offering basic healthcare to vulnerable residents identified with local chiefs. Communities including Naleli, Ha Mabote, Sekamaneng, Khubetsoana, and Koalabata benefited from the program.
KBW Assistant General Manager Motloli Mothepu stated the initiative is an expression of gratitude to communities that have supported the business. "We want to communicate that we value their livelihoods and well-being," Mothepu said, emphasizing the company's integration within these communities. The medical team conducted health checks, administered medication, and referred patients needing further treatment to medical facilities. Food hampers contained essential supplies like maize meal, bread flour, and cooking oil.
Local chiefs and headmen assisted in selecting beneficiaries, prioritizing vulnerable households and individuals with disabilities. Sekamaneng headman Tsooang Molata confirmed that recipients included about 100 representatives from households in Naleli, Khubetsoana, Sekamaneng, Koalabata, and Ha Mabote. Molata noted that individuals receiving old-age pensions were excluded to ensure aid reached those most in need, despite some feeling unfairly left out.
