Libya seizes 21 trucks carrying subsidised goods

15 trucks were found heading towards border regions, suspected of being used for smuggling.

Libyan authorities intercepted 21 trucks and their drivers on Monday, November 2, for allegedly transporting subsidised goods. The Anti-Financial Crimes, Money Laundering, and Terrorist Financing (AFCMLTF) reported that six trucks were released after initial checks, but 15 were found to be heading towards border areas.

These 15 trucks, along with their drivers, were referred to the AFCMLTF for legal proceedings. Investigators suspect these domestic transport operations are a front for smuggling goods out of the country. The case file was sent to the Advocate General in Tripoli for further action.

The operation follows directives from the Prime Minister to control rising prices of essential commodities. Measures include increased oversight on transport, distribution, and storage to ensure goods remain in local markets and prices are stable.
