Mali leader receives anti-corruption reports

President Assimi Goïta received annual reports from the BVG and OCLEI detailing financial irregularities and illicit enrichment cases.

Mali's President Assimi Goïta received the Bureau du Vérificateur général's (BVG) 2024 and 2025 annual reports on October 14, detailing findings from 94 missions across various sectors. These reports highlight administrative, financial, and judicial follow-ups to identified irregularities, with over 2.4 billion CFA francs regularized and returned to the treasury from work conducted over the two years.

The BVG's 2024 report covered 44 missions, including 28 financial and compliance audits, while the 2025 report detailed 50 missions, comprising 24 financial and compliance audits. Approximately 58% of financial and compliance audits in 2025 were initiated by official requests. Despite these efforts, the implementation rate of recommendations remained incomplete, with only 55% of applicable recommendations fully implemented in 2025.

Separately, President Goïta also received the 2021 and 2024 annual reports from the Office central de Lutte contre l’Enrichissement illicite (OCLEI) on October 22, 2026. The OCLEI reported controlling 968 asset declarations in 2021 and transmitting 12 cases to justice, while in 2024, 48 cases were examined, with 13 sent to the judiciary. President Goïta stated these reports must be an instrument of governance and an evaluation tool for public action.
