The intercepted vessel, originating from The Gambia, carried individuals from four different West African nations.

Mauritania's coast guard intercepted a boat carrying 204 clandestine migrants on Tuesday. The vessel, which departed from Barra, The Gambia, was stopped at 11 a.m. within Mauritanian territorial waters during routine surveillance and rescue missions.

The passengers comprised 143 Senegalese, 48 Gambians, 7 Guineans, and 6 Ivorians. Among the Senegalese migrants were 7 women and 20 minors, while the Gambian group included 10 women and 8 minors. The Guinean and Ivorian groups each had one woman.
