Ministry Denies Sponsoring Off-Brand Tourism Activities

Mauritania's Commerce and Tourism Ministry refutes claims of backing travel and media content that violates societal values.

The Ministry of Commerce and Tourism has denied any responsibility for travel, activities, or media content circulated and associated with its national domestic tourism promotion program, 'My Country... My Destination.' The ministry stated it is implementing a national program to showcase the country's tourist and cultural assets and encourage citizens to vacation domestically.

The ministry clarified that launched tourist seasons, including 'Al-Gaitna' in Tagant, 'Culture of the River' in Guidimakha, and 'Autumn' in Assaba, are organized under the supervision of competent administrative authorities and in compliance with legal and institutional provisions, respecting religious principles and moral values.

The ministry emphasized its program focuses on national heritage, including religious and cultural sites, with official media content distributed through approved digital platforms or public and private media. It explicitly stated it neither sponsored, supported, directed, nor authorized any travel, activity, or media content outside the official program framework or containing practices contrary to societal values.
