Mozambique road diversion authorised for gold mining
The National Road Administration granted permission for a diversion near Mavonde to HS Mining.
The National Road Administration (ANE) has authorised a road diversion in Manica for HS Mining to extract gold. The authorisation came from ANE’s Road Safety Department, which is part of its Central Road Maintenance and Safety Services.
The department requires the mining company to construct an alternative road of equal or better quality, ensure its maintenance, and install temporary signs. This authorisation was communicated to ANE’s Manica provincial delegation and the provincial directorates of Environment and Mineral Resources and Energy.
HS Mining is one of approximately 30 companies operating in Manica district, authorised to resume gold mining after a September 30 suspension. Similar authorisations have been granted to other mining firms in the district.
Why it mattersThe diversion of the Manica–Mavonde road will allow HS Mining to resume gold extraction, impacting local business operations.
