Namibia has signalled its willingness to assist The Bahamas with deploying qualified Namibian educators. The deployment will address The Bahamas’ deficit of teachers in mathematics, science, and technical vocational subjects. This initiative underscores deepening bilateral cooperation in education between the two countries.
Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare and his Bahamian counterpart Philip Davis discussed the teacher deployment on the sidelines of the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda. Ngurare assured that Namibia will evaluate the manpower request through local State institutions, balancing The Bahamas’ needs with Namibia’s staffing requirements and professional standards.
The leaders also discussed expanding trade and investment, with Namibia identifying beef, grapes, blueberries, and dates for export to the Caribbean. A Bahamian trade and investment mission, led by Prime Minister Davis, is scheduled for March 2027 to finalise commercial partnerships.
Why it mattersNamibian educators will gain overseas experience and The Bahamas will receive teaching staff for mathematics, science, and technical vocational subjects.
