Court sacks Uzodinma as APC senatorial candidate
Federal High Court orders INEC to recognise Rochas Okorocha as APC candidate for Imo West election.
The Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday nullified Governor Hope Uzodinma's candidacy for the APC in the Imo West Senatorial election scheduled for January 16, 2027. Justice Obiora Egwuatu ruled that Uzodinma was not the valid winner of the APC primary election held on May 18, which was monitored by INEC.
The court found that former governor Senator Rochas Okorocha secured the highest votes in the primary and should have been nominated. Justice Egwuatu ordered INEC to recognise Okorocha and publish his name as the APC candidate, barring Uzodinma from presenting himself as the party's choice.
The ruling follows a primary election monitored by INEC. Senator Okorocha was declared the winner by the court, while Governor Uzodinma was barred from presenting himself as the candidate.
