Senegal opposition vows not to block finance law
Takku-Wallu group president Aïssata Tall Sall urged President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to act responsibly.
The Takku-Wallu Senegal parliamentary group will not obstruct the adoption of the revised finance law, aiming to prevent the country's paralysis and harm to Senegalese citizens. Group president Aïssata Tall Sall stated this position on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at the APR headquarters.
Tall Sall declared a stance of "republican responsibility" while maintaining opposition to what she described as an unorthodox public finance management. She stated that while they refuse to approve a management they deem unorthodox, they also refuse to hold Senegal hostage with Pastef.
The opposition leader emphasized that political disagreement should not lead to institutional gridlock or compromise daily life for citizens. She directly called on President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to take responsibility to avoid national paralysis, particularly concerning public servant payments.
Why it mattersSenegalese citizens and public servants face potential disruption if the finance law is blocked.
