SA coaches clash in Eswatini Charity Cup semi-finals

Moneni Pirates coach Selaotse Mosala faces Mandla Qhogi of Nsingizini Hotspurs for a chance at the E400 000 prize.

South African coaches Selaotse ‘Sly’ Mosala and Mandla Qhogi will compete in the PLE Charity Cup semi-finals on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium. Mosala, coaching Moneni Pirates, recently won the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup. He will face Qhogi, who coaches Nsingizini Hotspurs and previously managed Milford FC. Nsingizini Hotspurs are seeking revenge against Moneni Pirates after a recent league loss.

Mandla Qhogi took charge of Nsingizini Hotspurs in May 2025 and led them to a domestic treble last season, winning the MTN Premier League, Ingwenyama Cup, and Trade Fair Cup. Despite Qhogi’s past success, Moneni Pirates enter the match with momentum from a 1-0 league victory over Nsingizini Hotspurs. The winner of this match will proceed to the final to compete for the E400 000 prize money.

The other semi-final will feature Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize’s Mbabane Highlanders against Ubombo Sugar. The draw sets up a rematch between Nsingizini Hotspurs and Moneni Pirates, with Mosala aiming for another trophy with the 'Buccaneers'.

Why it mattersFootball fans in Eswatini will watch South African coaches lead their teams in a high-stakes cup competition with a significant cash prize.
