Eswatini-born vocalist Zinia releases a six-track project exploring heartbreak, longing, and the difficult process of letting go.
Eswatini-born vocalist Zinia is set to release her debut EP, "Devotion & Other Mistakes," on October 23, 2026. The six-track project delves into the less acknowledged aspects of love, such as lingering attachment and the uncomfortable journey of self-prioritization. Zinia aims to present an honest portrayal of heartbreak, finding beauty in the truth rather than romanticizing the pain.
The EP navigates the tension between devotion and misguided persistence, tracing a path from surrender through uncertainty to the challenging work of release. Sonically, the project leans into R&B and Neo-soul, incorporating influences from soul, house, Afro-house, and African rhythms. Zinia's vocals are central, moving between vulnerability and strength across the tracks, which feature fellow Eswatini artist Oriiginelle.
Produced by Fezi Simelane, with mixing and mastering by Lethumusa Simelane, "Devotion & Other Mistakes" marks a significant step for Zinia, whose musical journey began in Mbabane. After years of performing at Eswatini festivals like MTN Bushfire and Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival, this EP represents a cohesive artistic statement, showcasing her growth from early musical beginnings to her studies in Music Business and Performance.
Why it mattersThe EP's release offers a new cultural product from an Eswatini artist, potentially impacting the local music scene and providing content for diaspora audiences interested in contemporary African arts.
