Man kills wife, then lynched by mob in Kanungu
Doreen Kirabo, 20, was killed by her husband Aaron Akandinda, 25, who was then beaten to death by villagers.
A man identified as Aaron Akandinda, 25, allegedly killed his wife, Doreen Kirabo, 20, with an axe on Monday, November 2, 2026, in Kakyenke Cell, Kanungu District. Kirabo had reportedly returned to their home after visiting her sick parents.
Following the attack on Kirabo, an angry mob gathered and pursued Akandinda, assaulting him until he died. Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime stated that no arrests have been made for the mob killing, and investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators.
Police condemned both the domestic murder and the mob killing, urging the public to report disputes to authorities instead of resorting to violence or taking the law into their own hands.
