Minister José de Lima Massano opened the AFIS summit, highlighting Africa's potential and financial system needs.
Angola hosted the sixth edition of the Africa Investment Forum (AFIS) in Luanda, bringing together over a thousand financial leaders. Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, opened the two-day summit themed 'Making Capital Count: Unlocking Growth Through African Finance'. The event, organized by Jeune Afrique Media Group and the International Finance Corporation, aims to transform financial mobilization into economic growth.
During the opening, Minister Massano acknowledged global uncertainties like geopolitical shifts and financial volatility. He stated that Africa possesses significant advantages, including a young population, strategic natural resources, and the developing African Continental Free Trade Area. However, he stressed that economic transformation hinges on attracting investment, converting savings into productive assets, and supporting entrepreneurship.
Massano also pointed out that credit for agriculture, manufacturing, and small businesses in Africa remains limited and insufficient. He advocated for deeper regional integration to strengthen the continent's financial future. The minister noted that while assertive economic policies are needed, the quality and efficiency of African financial systems are equally important.
