A Dori court sentenced a man to life in prison for brutally attacking his pregnant partner after she refused an abortion.

A man received a life sentence on October 30, 2026, for attacking his partner with a knife and acid in Dori. The court found him guilty of criminal aggravated assault after the woman refused to have an abortion.

The victim was lured to an isolated spot on the night of August 31, 2026, by her partner who wanted her to terminate her pregnancy. When she refused, he beat her, stabbed her back, and poured acid on her face, causing severe disfigurement. She was found unconscious the next morning in Torodi village, about 10 kilometers from Dori, and taken to the regional hospital.

Police informed the prosecutor on September 1, 2026, and an investigation began. The victim regained consciousness and identified her partner as the attacker. He was arrested on October 15, 2026, and placed in pre-trial detention before his trial on October 30.
