Cotonou port to open weekends for cargo pickup
Goods can be collected on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays starting October 24, 2026.
The Port Autonomous de Cotonou will operate weekend services for cargo pickup starting Saturday, October 24, 2026. This measure, announced by the port's general directorate, aims to speed up the exit of goods from the port.
The new schedule involves customs, stevedores, consignees, port services, livestock and fisheries departments, Benin Control, and banks. The port authority seeks to reduce delays from administrative procedures and prevent cargo accumulation within the port.
This operational change follows infrastructure upgrades at the port, including the construction of 400 meters of quay completed in the first phase of extension work.
Why it mattersBusinesses and individuals relying on goods passing through the Port of Cotonou will experience faster clearance.
