Congo hosts regional trade talks for women

Brazzaville conference aims to boost women's participation in central African commerce.

Brazzaville is hosting a regional conference from October 21 to discuss how to increase women's involvement in trade across central Africa. The meeting, themed "Unlocking the Economic Potential of Central African Women to Accelerate the Inclusive Implementation of AfCFTA," brings together ministers, regional bodies, and entrepreneurs.

The conference seeks to identify ways for women entrepreneurs and traders to benefit more from the African market. Participants are working to create a regional roadmap to improve women's access to markets and cross-border trade, addressing challenges like access to finance and support systems.

This initiative aims to make the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) an instrument for economic inclusion and opportunity. The three-day event in the Congolese capital focuses on strengthening women's roles in regional economic integration.

Why it mattersWomen entrepreneurs in central Africa face difficulties accessing finance and markets, hindering their participation in regional trade.
