Institut Cœur de Grâce specialists used a hybrid operating room to treat patients with heart conditions.
The Institut Cœur de Grâce (ICG) in Abidjan successfully performed three surgeries between October 26 and 28, 2026, to address arterial blockages. These procedures included replacing an aortic valve, performing a coronary bypass, and treating an ascending aorta coarctation. The hospital utilized its latest generation hybrid operating room for these interventions.
French specialists collaborated with Ivorian doctors at the facility during this specialized medical mission. ICG officials stated the mission advances cardiovascular surgery development and local medical capabilities. They also emphasized the importance of early detection and regular consultations for heart conditions.
The institute aims to improve access to cardiovascular care in Ivory Coast and the wider sub-region. This development is a major issue for the health system, as heart diseases require prompt diagnosis and appropriate management.
