Ivory Coast opens digital farming school

The Digital Farming School in Yamoussoukro will train 50 students annually in tech for agriculture.

A new school focused on digital technologies for agriculture, the Digital Farming School (DFS), opened on October 31, 2026, at the INP-HB in Yamoussoukro. The school aims to modernize Ivory Coast's farming sector by training students in areas like sensors, satellite imagery, and artificial intelligence.

The DFS is a partnership between Ivory Coast's INP-HB and Morocco's UM6P, with funding from OCP Group and initial operational support from the FIRSI foundation. It will offer a two-year program, starting with 50 students per year, to develop solutions for better water and energy management, soil preservation, and climate change adaptation.

Minister of Agriculture Bruno Koné stated that digital tools can improve weather forecasts and fertilizer use, helping farmers reduce costs and increase profits. The school also includes a 25-hectare orchard for practical learning and experimentation.

Why it mattersFarmers in Ivory Coast can benefit from improved farming practices and increased income through new digital technologies taught at the DFS.
