Cameroon agency finds 3,914 fintech security flaws

National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies identified weaknesses in policies, staff expertise, and data protection.

Cameroon's National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ANTIC) identified 3,914 security vulnerabilities in 108 fintech operator audits. The findings, presented by Director General Prof. Ebot Ebot Enaw on October 28, 2026, at the Digitise Cameroon Forum in Mbankomo, cover security policies, staff expertise, access controls, data protection, and business continuity. This follows earlier audits in November 2025 that flagged over 6,500 vulnerabilities.

The agency has issued recommendations to the fintech operators, which include banks, microfinance institutions, and payment providers. ANTIC did not disclose how many of the identified vulnerabilities were critical or how many have been corrected. Mobile Money generated FCFA135.8 billion in revenue in 2024 with 11.4 million active subscriptions.

Cameroon's new personal data protection law took effect in December 2024, with an 18-month compliance period ending in June 2026. The previous audits in November 2025 covered 119 financial operators.
