Algeria sets October 31 deadline for 2027 import plans

Importers of live cattle, milk, dairy products, and poultry inputs must submit their 2027 provisional import programs by this date.

Algeria's Ministry of Agriculture has set October 31, 2026, as the deadline for importers of live cattle, milk, dairy products, and poultry inputs to submit their provisional import programs (PPI) for 2027. This submission is a mandatory step to obtain import licenses and initiate banking procedures for their operations. The directive was issued on October 7.

The veterinary services directorate emphasized that economic operators must accurately report the nature and projected quantities of products. Strict adherence to the deadline is required to ensure timely processing of these programs. The ministry aims to prevent market supply disruptions for essential products like meat and dairy.

Algeria introduced the PPI system in July 2025 to regulate and enhance import controls. All import operations now require prior validation of the PPI by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion.

Why it mattersAlgerian importers of specific agricultural products must submit their 2027 plans by October 31, 2026, to secure import licenses.
