Stellantis recalls 6 Opel models in Algeria over faulty airbags
Owners of Astra H, Astra J, Cascada, Meriva B, Mokka, and Zafira C vehicles produced between 2008 and 2017 must stop driving and contact dealers for free replacement.
Stellantis Algeria has issued an urgent recall for six Opel models, including Astra H, Astra J, Cascada, Meriva B, Mokka, and Zafira C, manufactured between 2008 and 2017. The automotive group is instructing owners to immediately stop driving these vehicles and contact a dedicated number to arrange for a free replacement of Takata airbags.
The chemical components in Takata airbags can degrade over time, especially in hot and humid climates, posing a risk of rupture with excessive force during deployment. Stellantis stated that this could lead to severe or fatal injuries in the worst-case scenarios. Customers can verify if their vehicle is affected via a VIN check on the official Opel Algeria website.
Stellantis, which plans to launch a car and engine production plant in Algeria, apologized for the inconvenience. The company assured that its teams are actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, prioritizing customer safety and well-being.
