Gabon forms leasing association with SFI support

The new AGA CB aims to boost leasing finance for businesses in Gabon, currently only 2.6% of private sector funding.

The Gabonese Association of Leasing Actors (AGA CB) was officially formed on October 21 in Libreville. Serge Bertrand Abessolo, representing the Minister of Economy, supervised the constitutive general assembly. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) supported this initiative to structure the leasing sector.

Ruffin Nzoghé Ndong Simore, director general of Alios Gabon, was elected president of the AGA CB. He stated the association aims to make leasing an essential lever for investment financing and business development. In 2021, leasing finance in Gabon was 22.3 billion CFA francs, representing just 2.6% of private sector funding.

The potential annual market for leasing in Gabon is estimated between 180 and 200 billion CFA francs. Leasing allows companies, especially SMEs, to acquire necessary equipment without large immediate capital outlay. This mechanism supports modernization, job creation, and economic diversification.

Why it mattersGabonese businesses, particularly SMEs, can now access a more structured leasing sector to acquire equipment.
