Fitch Solutions forecasts Ghana's 2026 growth at nearly 6%

The firm expects Ghana's economy to slow to 4.7% growth in 2027 due to rising inflation.

Fitch Solutions has maintained its forecast for Ghana's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to grow by nearly 6.0% in 2026. The UK-based firm noted that Ghana's economy has remained insulated from global events, supported by high gold prices and low domestic inflation.

The Ghanaian economy's oil trade deficit was only 0.3% of GDP in the second quarter of 2026, thanks to offshore fields. Fitch Solutions anticipates a current account surplus of 5.3% of GDP in 2027, which will support Ghana's reserves and limit currency depreciation.

However, Fitch Solutions expects growth to slow to 4.7% in 2027 as inflation rises to 11.3% from 4.7% in 2026. This is due to unfavorable base effects, increased money supply, and higher global food prices, which will reduce purchasing power and private consumption.
