National Theatre hosts Funworld 2026 for breast cancer awareness

The event combines education, entertainment, and competition to raise awareness of mental well-being and breast cancer among schoolchildren.

The National Theatre of Ghana will host Funworld 2026, an event using performing arts to promote mental health awareness and breast cancer education. This initiative aims to raise awareness among schoolchildren, teachers, parents, and the wider community through education, entertainment, and competition.

Funworld has been a family edutainment platform for over three decades, helping young people develop creative abilities and showcase talents, contributing to figures like Shatta Wale and Martha Ankomah. This year's event will feature traditional and contemporary dances, drama, poetry, and music, celebrating Ghanaian culture while nurturing confidence in pupils. Springfield School and Gloryhill International will participate in a debate competition.

The programme will also highlight mental health, emotional well-being, and the importance of supportive environments for children. Educational messages and artistic presentations will encourage pupils to understand breast cancer awareness and health consciousness. Promasidor Ghana, through its Twisco product, is sponsoring the event, while Kiddafest 2026 is scheduled for December 17 and 18.

Why it mattersOver 300 residents of Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd's host communities benefited from breast cancer screening, indicating a direct health impact on the population.
