Police hunt suspect after two shot dead in Sakumono
George and Irene Atuguba were killed following an alleged GH¢500,000 debt dispute.
The Ghana Police Service is searching for Samuel Christopher Osel Anto after he allegedly shot and killed George Atuguba, 57, and his niece Irene Atuguba, 47, at their Sakumono residence on Friday, October 30, 2026. Officers found the victims with fatal gunshot wounds after responding to a report of a financial dispute.
Preliminary investigations suggest the killings stemmed from a GH¢500,000 loan George Atuguba had allegedly failed to repay to the suspect. Anto, accompanied by Beatrice Mumuni, reportedly went to the home to demand the money, leading to a confrontation and the fatal shootings. The bodies were taken to the Police Hospital Mortuary.
The Accra Regional Police Command has appealed to the public for any information that could help apprehend Anto. The police are working to bring the suspect to justice.
