University of Ghana orders students with CGPA below 1.00 to withdraw
Undergraduates failing to achieve a 1.00 CGPA by the end of the 2025/2026 academic year must leave.
The University of Ghana has directed undergraduate students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) below 1.00 at the end of the 2025/2026 academic year to withdraw from their studies. This directive, issued by the Academic Affairs Directorate on Thursday, October 22, follows University Regulations for Junior Members (2017) which require a minimum CGPA of 1.00 for academic progression.
According to the regulations, students whose CGPAs remain below 1.00 after all grades are released must withdraw, as the university does not offer academic probation. Affected students are instructed to check their CGPAs on the Management Information System (MIS) Web and initiate withdrawal requests via the Student and Staff Portal (STS).
Some programmes will have withdrawals initiated by the school or department on behalf of students. Students seeking clarification on their academic standing or the withdrawal process can contact their College Academic Offices, while the Careers and Counselling Directorate will provide support.
