Former LSK president demands prosecution for Migori attack

Opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa and Justin Muturi were attacked on November 5, 2026, in Migori.

Former Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo demanded the prosecution of attackers who disrupted an opposition tour in Migori on Thursday, November 5, 2026. The attack targeted opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, and Justin Muturi, damaging several vehicles in their convoy. Odhiambo stated that the incident violated the leaders' constitutional rights to political participation and freedom of expression.

Odhiambo expressed concern over recurring political violence and insufficient action by authorities, noting that shattered windows can be replaced but a life lost cannot. She called for police to identify and investigate those who organised or financed the violence, and for an independent inquiry into police conduct during the confrontation. The leaders were in the South Nyanza region for political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The convoy was pelted with stones by approximately 10 youths, causing damage to vehicles including Muturi's and Musyoka's cars. Running battles between suspected attackers and police, who used teargas, followed the incident. Despite the disruption, the opposition leaders vowed to continue their political engagements.
