Law Society of Kenya seeks missing lawyer
Nairobi advocate Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi reportedly abducted November 2, 2026, amid criminal case involvement.
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) is demanding urgent investigations into the disappearance of Nairobi lawyer Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi, who was reportedly abducted on November 2, 2026. Abdi, of Abshir & Njagi Advocates, was allegedly pursued by armed individuals in two vehicles along Muchai Road, with some occupants appearing to be in police uniforms.
LSK President Charles Kanjama stated that the lawyer's disappearance is a concern due to his role as a key witness in Criminal Case No. MCCR/E2910/2025 at the Makadara Law Courts. The Society has received prior reports of threats linked to these proceedings and has filed a habeas corpus application, scheduled for directions on November 9, 2026.
The LSK has called on Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to find Abdi and investigate the incident. The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is also urged to look into the involvement of individuals posing as police officers.
Why it mattersThe abduction of lawyer Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi is linked to his role as a witness in a criminal case, which the LSK states is an affront to the administration of justice.
