Wetangula, Kingi lead MPs to visit recuperating Oburu

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula and Senate Speaker Amason Kingi visited ODM leader Oburu Oginga at his Nairobi home on November 5.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula and Senate Speaker Amason Kingi visited Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Oburu Oginga at his Nairobi home on November 5. They led a delegation of MPs and Senators to wish the Siaya Senator a speedy recovery after his discharge from hospital.

Wetangula advised Oburu to prioritize his health and avoid rushing back to political engagements, commending his courage. Oburu expressed gratitude for the visit, stating that false social media reports declaring him dead while hospitalized had only strengthened his resolve. "Those who wrote me off while I was in hospital by declaring me dead only made me stronger and more determined to fight my sickness," he said.

Oburu acknowledged his illness had temporarily slowed his political activities but vowed to return to parliamentary debates and active discourse soon. Senate Speaker Kingi noted that the Senate fraternity missed Oburu’s contributions to proceedings and national politics. The delegation included Senators David Wakoli, Stewart Madzayo, William Kisang, and Daniel Maanzo, alongside MPs Millie Odhiambo, Mishi Mboko, and Eve Obara.
