Bishop Klayee launches book on leadership pain

The Jubilee Ministries International bishop's new 123-page book explores the hidden struggles of leaders in all sectors.

Bishop J. Allan Klayee of Jubilee Ministries International has released a new book titled The Bleeding Leader: Leading While Wounded in the Battle of Ministry and Life. The 123-page work, printed by Denva Books in Accra, argues that church cultures often fail to acknowledge the personal pain of leaders. The book will be launched this Saturday, October 31, at the Monrovia City Hall.

The book's introduction states that followers see the polished sermon and confidence but rarely the "bleeding" of leaders. Bishop Klayee, who wrote the book, insists its message extends beyond the church to "every leader in every sector." The foreword is by Bishop Nathaniel N. Zarway, Sr., who recommends it to leaders who have "shed tears in private while standing strong in public."

Across 12 chapters, Bishop Klayee addresses issues such as betrayal, loneliness, and the burden of carrying others' problems, drawing examples from biblical figures like Moses and David. He also critiques congregations for expecting protection from leaders rather than offering it to them, calling pastor protection "the most self-interested thing a community can do for its own future."

Why it mattersLiberian church leaders and other sector leaders are directly affected by Bishop Klayee's book which addresses their personal struggles while in public roles.
