Liberia receives final Chinese farm machinery consignment

42 containers of agricultural equipment arrived at the Freeport of Monrovia to boost mechanization.

Liberia's Ministry of Agriculture received the final shipment of agricultural machinery donated by China on October 28, 2026. The consignment included 42 containers of equipment, with 15 containers being moved from the Freeport of Monrovia on the day of arrival. This delivery advances the government's plan to modernize farming through mechanization and increase national food production.

The machinery aims to transition Liberia's agriculture from traditional methods to more productive and commercially viable systems, according to the Ministry. Minister Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah and his team are pursuing initiatives to improve productivity, food security, and reduce reliance on imported food. The Chinese donation is expected to strengthen the country's mechanization capacity and farming efficiency.

This latest delivery highlights international partnerships, with China's contribution reflecting ongoing cooperation in agricultural development and technology transfer. The Ministry plans to ensure this modern equipment becomes accessible to farmers to boost domestic food production. Agriculture is central to Liberia's economic development, rural livelihoods, and national food security.
