Morocco has supplied military vehicles and supplies to Liberia, with 140 soldiers set for commando training in North Africa.
Morocco has delivered military vehicles and supplies to Liberia as part of an expanded defense cooperation agreement. Approximately 140 soldiers from the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) are scheduled to travel to Morocco for specialized commando training. A Moroccan C-130 military cargo aircraft landed at Roberts International Airport on Monday, October 19, initiating a series of flights planned between October 19 and 22 to transport military equipment and supplies.
This operation is a key component of a military cooperation agreement signed in October 2025, which aims to enhance military training, technical assistance, and healthcare cooperation between the two nations. The agreement has seen recent momentum with a September 2026 visit by AFL Chief of Staff Major General Davidson Fayiah Forleh to Morocco, where plans for military support and capacity-building were advanced, including a memorandum of understanding to boost the Liberian military's operational capabilities.
The partnership encompasses military equipment, specialized training, maritime security, and healthcare services for military personnel, including efforts to develop Liberia's military air wing and strengthen the Liberia Coast Guard. Cooperation with Mohammed V Military Hospital is also part of the agreement, facilitating medical personnel exchanges and specialized referrals.
Why it mattersLiberia's armed forces will receive new equipment and specialized training, enhancing their operational capabilities and professional development.
