Libya and Indonesia sign trade deal

A cooperation agreement aims to boost private sector trade and direct commercial ties between the two nations.

Libya and Indonesia signed a cooperation agreement on October 20 in Semarang, Indonesia, to facilitate trade between their nations. The deal aims to foster direct cooperation between private-sector companies from both countries.

Business leaders from Libya and Indonesia attended the signing ceremony, which was preceded by bilateral B2B meetings. The Central Java region, where Semarang is located, is a key industrial and export hub for products like textiles, footwear, and food items. This agreement follows the Libyan Business Forum held on October 16th in Jakarta.

At the Jakarta forum, over 12 letters of intent for commercial deals valued at US$1.8 million were signed. The Libyan Business Council is now working with Indonesian economic entities to develop trade exchange opportunities and convert these letters into actionable agreements.

Why it mattersLibyan and Indonesian businesses will benefit from facilitated trade and direct commercial ties.
