Moroccan authorities search for five missing fishermen
Rescue operations continue off Safi coast for crew of Lalla Khadija, missing since Friday.
Moroccan authorities are searching for five fishermen whose boat, Lalla Khadija, went missing off the coast of Safi. The Ministry of Maritime Fisheries announced the ongoing search and rescue operations for the crew of the traditional fishing vessel, registered under number 7-7016.
The alert was raised on Friday, October 23, at 5 p.m. when the boat's owner reported its failure to return to Safi port. The Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center in Bouznika launched operations, involving two rescue boats from Safi and Agadir, fishing vessels, and merchant ships. Two helicopters from the Royal Gendarmerie and Royal Navy also joined the aerial search.
Difficult weather and sea conditions are hindering the search efforts. Civilian and military resources continue to operate under the coordination of the Bouznika rescue center to locate the missing vessel and its five crew members.
