Sergeant refuses to attend shooting inquiry reconstitution

Key witnesses recreated the events of October 9 when Elodie Thomas was shot.

An inquiry into a shooting that critically injured Elodie Thomas on October 9 in Camp-Levieux has been complicated by the refusal of Sergeant Gautam Singh Taukoor to participate in a fact reconstitution. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), led by Satish Faugoo and Hisham Oozeer, organised the event on November 4.

Sergeant Taukoor, the suspect in the shooting, declined to attend the reconstitution. Instead, key witnesses, including Rudy Soobrayen, the van driver, and another employee from the Tribeca Winners supermarket, recreated the events for investigators. Elodie Thomas's colleague also provided details of the incident.

The reconstitution aimed to clarify the sequence of events on the night Thomas was shot. The IPCC is continuing its investigation into the incident.

Why it mattersThe investigation into the shooting of Elodie Thomas is ongoing, with a key suspect refusing to cooperate with investigators.
