Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) official Maria Mainja has accused Malawi Congress Party (MCP) campaign director Moses Kunkuyu of spreading false rumours about President Peter Mutharika's health.
Mainja stated that Kunkuyu falsely claimed Mutharika was critically ill and on the brink of death, while the president had been on a private visit to South Africa and returned healthy.
The DPP official even suggested that DPP supporters would attend Kunkuyu's funeral dressed in party colours, highlighting the increasingly bitter political atmosphere ahead of future elections.
