Viyuyi and Kondowe share top scorer lead
Standard Bank Blue Eagles striker Tonic Viyuyi has drawn level with FCB Nyasa Bullets striker Ephraim Kondowe on 10 goals each in the FDH Bank Premiership.
Tonic Viyuyi scored twice on Sunday to reach 10 goals for the season, matching FCB Nyasa Bullets' Ephraim Kondowe who also has 10 goals. Kondowe had led the league with nine goals after the first round and added one more in his team's second-round opener. Viyuyi's brace in Eagles' 3-0 win over Chitipa United brought him level.
Kondowe did not score in Bullets' 3-0 victory against Mafco FC on the same afternoon Viyuyi reached his tally. Marco Chiwaya of Goshen City Dedza Dynamos is currently third in the scoring charts with six goals, while six other players are tied on five goals.
Football analyst Charles Nyirenda stated that the race is still open but considers Kondowe and Viyuyi the frontrunners. He noted that the four-goal gap between the leading pair and the third-placed player suggests the competition will likely remain between the top two if they maintain their current form.
